Job Description

JOB TITLE:  Senior Safety Trainer
REPORTS TO:  Safety Manager
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:  Senior Safety Trainer handles various safety-related responsibilities at an assigned group of service centers (SC's) in order to improve safety performance and compliance.  The position increases the company's safety awareness, sense of urgency, and importance in our daily operations.
•         Conduct quarterly safety training meetings at each assigned SC and send
          completed documentation to the Safety Department.  Meetings to include review of
          SC accident/injury/CSA results each quarter, in addition to other training material.
•         Develop and present SC safety training to address specific SC issues.
•         Provide in-cab training to new-hire drivers within the first 90 days of their
•         Provide remedial, in-cab training to drivers as needed.
•         Monitor employee safety performance, provide coaching, defensive driving and
          training programs for prevention of accidents, injuries, CSA and OSHA violations, and
          to maintain regulatory compliance.
•         Perform SC safety audits during each visit, with two "formal" audits being conducted
          each year.
•         Report all known safety-related hazards to the SC Manager, ensuring they are
          addressed in a timely manner.
•         Provide coaching in safety-related areas, i.e. hours-of-service, hazardous materials,
          DOT regulations, etc.
•         Communicate with and supervise SC trainers to provide oversight of their assigned
•         Responsible for keeping local trainers informed of program changes, updated
          regulations, and policy changes.
•         Complete road observation reports.
•         Represent company at industry functions.

Job Requirements

•         Must be a Class A CDL qualified driver with a safe driving history.
•         Strong verbal and written communication skills & knowledge of the trucking industry.
•         Possess good work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
•         Must be able to work well with SC Managers, drivers, and all other employees.
•         Proficient teaching, training, and analytical skills.
•         Knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
•         Ability to travel approximately 80% of time.
